Christine (Poole) was born and brought up in Kelso, Scottish Borders. After leaving school in 1972, she spent 9 months in north west Sicily with a village craft project where, along with a group of students from Dartington Hall school, she helped to establish a pottery in Scopello near Palermo. She then went on to complete an art foundation course followed by a 3 year BA in ceramics at Bath Academy of Art under the tutor ship of John Colbeck.
In 1978 she and Rodger set up the pottery at Barnbarroch, (near Kippford in Dumfries and Galloway). She has since been working as a full time potter in Galloway where the majority of her work has been sold directly from the showroom, and she has exhibited widely throughout Scotland and the UK.
